You can of course connect a domain name that you already own to your Portfoliobox site, you can only connect one domain and only Pro account can use a custom domain. Before you configure your domain name, first you will need to add your domain name via the admin panel:

  1. Click on the message at the bottom of your screen "Click here to set up your domain name".
  2. Under Set Up Your Domain Name, check the box "I want to use a domain that I already own".
  3. Finally enter your domain name under Your Existing Domain then click on Submit.

After the steps above, now you need to configure your domain so it will be connected to your Portfoliobox website. To do this, you will need a full access to your domain DNS (Domain Name System). In order to add our settings, first you log into the website of your domain provider and then change the DNS of your domain. Note that your domain name will remain registered at your current provider but will be connected to your Portfoliobox site.

The records below are the settings that you will need to add to your DNS. If you are not familiar with the process of domain configuration, we recommend you to provide your domain provider with the following information:

1. Create an A-record for your domain name:

The A-record creates a redirection from yourdomain.com to www.yourdomain.com.

RECORD TYPENAME / HOSTTTLVALUE / POINTS TO
A@10800107.20.241.149

2. Create a CNAME for the subdomain "www"

The CNAME record connects www.yourdomain.com to your Portfoliobox site.

RECORD TYPENAME / HOSTTTLVALUE / POINTS TO
CNAMEwww10800home.portfolioboxdns.com
